Salvi Moreno & Traffic Jam

Claire our gorgeous LA columnist finally caught up with frontman Salvi Moreno of Malaga born band, Salvi Moreno and Traffic Jam, to see how their second album ‘All Humans are living on the Moon’ recorded in the UK is coming along.

Claire: Salvi, it’s great to speak to you after so long, tell me, how is the new album coming along? You know I am one of your biggest fans so I am very excited about the second album and congratulations by the way!!!!

Salvi: (laughs) Thanks Claire, yes we finally finished the album a few days ago. I have been living in Leeds for the last month and a half and working in a fantastic studio in Leeds, a studio that has seen a number of professional musicians come and go such as The Clash, Smokie and many more. For me to have the experience of recording my album in such a top studio was just incredible for me. I have also been working with some top class musicians so now have new friends in the music world in Britain! Sure there’s been sleepless nights, endless hours of hard work, good laughs and junk food but I am so happy with the end result and the amazing experience that it has truly been worth every second.

Claire: That’s fantastic Salvi, tell us a little bit about the album, what’s it called, how many songs are on the album and what are they about?

Salvi: It is called ‘All Humans are living on the Moon’, because in Spain, we say that when children are lost in their thoughts and daydreaming or they live in their world of fantasy, we say “they live on the moon”. When I was young, they told me that, and now as an adult, I realize that in fact, those who live on the moon are the people who have the power to make absurd decisions such as the politicians in this world!

The lyrics of my songs always tend to pull on the darker side of things …. some of them are about love… some of them are about politics … ‘All Humans are living on the Moon’ talks about what life would be like on the moon. My song ‘Pillowcase” talks about a hangover the next day and the last song on the album is about Pepe Trueno, a great Spanish singer from here in Malaga. He said some things to me before I left for England that touched my heart and I told him I was going to write a song about that. In addition to that, I had watched him in concerts since I was a child. I called that song Peter Thunder (English translation of his name). The album has 8 songs in total…

Claire: So you have your Official Disc Presentation on Saturday 10th December at the Las Lagunas Theatre in Fuengirola? How do we get tickets?

Salvi: Yes that’s right. We recorded our video for ‘Sense of Freedom’ (from the first album) at Teatro Las Lagunas and I liked the theatre and the staff so much that we decided it was a good choice for our second album too. The presentation will begin at 8pm on 10th December and tickets are only 6 euros. These can be purchased directly from the Las Lagunas theatre or you can call me on 615 673 977. They are selling quickly so don’t delay, it’s only a week away.

(If you fancy doing something different on a Saturday night and are passionate about music, you really shouldn’t miss this live performance of Salvi Moreno and Traffic Jam performing their second album for the first time)

Claire I also want to mention that we are due to shoot our second video very soon and are looking for extras to participate. If you wish to have an afternoon of fun, if you are bubbly, happy and passionate about the Arts and Music and if you have always wanted to appear in a pop/rock video, now is your chance.….all you have to do is join our Facebook band page “Salvi Moreno and Traffic Jam” and write on the wall. Also, make sure you watch our videos on You Tube (see links below)

Claire: Wow yes, I was in your first video, that was such good fun! I can’t believe that was really two years ago!! So Salvi, what are your plans for this album and where can we buy it? I have heard the tracks you sent me, Pillowcase, Surrender and All Humans are living on the Moon and I love them all BUT my favourite has to be “Surrender”. I feel like that has been a favourite from everyone so far from all the comments I saw when you put it on your Facebook page. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrYkA7Q26dg)

Salvi: Well, the response and feedback I have had from the British people over in the UK has been fantastic and we are concentrating on pushing it in the UK as well as here in Spain where we have our loyal fans that support us no matter what. I have had some positive interviews in London and Leeds and I am being featured in a magazine over there so it is a start, there’s a long road to travel but this is my passion so I’m happy to keep working hard every day and see where it leads.

Until it is released, people can enjoy listening to a taster with the three songs I have uploaded on You Tube and feel free to add a comment. I will leave you with a few songs from the album Claire and I look forward to having a ‘cerveza’ when you land back in Espana!

Claire: It is always a pleasure to speak to you Salvi, thanks for sharing your new project with us here and see you muy pronto!!!! I will continue supporting you over here in LA and who knows, maybe you’ll get over here to do some festivals in 2012, that would be awesome!!!!
