When it first opened in 1962 the luxury hotel resort of Los Monteros quickly became a favourite with discerning visitors to Marbella. Located just outside of central Marbella it offered an alternative to the Marbella Golden Mile, something that some of its more ‘private’ patrons preferred. Over the last 20 years or so the hotel has suffered in terms of visitor numbers and was bought and sold at least a couple of times. However, there is great news on the horizon.
The hotel has been closed for a major renovation and refurbishment having been acquired by the American luxury brand Kimpton. After much work the hotel is now ready to re-open on 25 February under the exclusive brand for IHG Hotels & Resorts.
The newly refurbished hotel will re-open boasting 195 rooms which will include 60 suites. Many of the deluxe rooms and suites will have large terrace areas and views of the sea. This new modern 5 star hotel will be another fabulous addition to the growing luxury Marbella hotel scene.
The luxury Kimpton Los Monteros Hotel, Marbella will be a mere 500 metres from the shores of the Mediterranean. High quality cuisine has been a stable of the Marbella lifestyle scene for many years and the Kimpton Los Monteros will embrace this by offering some of the best gastronomy in Marbella. The high end cuisine will be overseen by Malaga’s Michelin-starred chef José Carlos García. Diners can enjoy a number of experiences whether choosing to dine in the restaurant, on the terrace or in the lounge or pool bars.
La Cabane beach club, which was branded by Dolce & Gabbana, will continue to be managed by the Mosh group and another Malaga Michelin Star chef, Dani García.
There will be a media launch of the Kimpton Los Monteros Hotel on 6 March 2025, the first of more planned boutique hotel launches in Andalucia by the group. They already have the Kimpton Vividora Barcelona and the Kimpton Aysla Mallorca.

Los Monteros is just outside of central Malaga on the A7 coast road. Just opposite the Costa del Sol hospital in the area of Los Monteros with the hotel set between the road and the beach.
