When it comes to iconic hotels of Marbella, the Fuerte has always been towards the top of that list. Now thanks to a complete transformation, Fuerte Hotel Marbella has opened its doors with a prestigious five-star rating, thanks to a 31 million euro investment by the parent hotel group.
Confirming the hotel’s reopening, the chain stated, “The realization of reopening a renowned establishment like El Fuerte Marbella is now a reality.” They added that after more than 65 years of hosting guests, the property aims to regain its status as a prominent destination, capitalizing on its prime location, rejuvenated aesthetics, and outstanding culinary offerings.
The Fuerte Hotel Marbella has a history dating back to 1957 when it quickly became more than just a hotel, it became a social hub for celebrities and personalities from all over the world. Walt Disney, Timothy Dalton, Rafael Alberti, Lola Flores, Diana Dors and Penélope Cruz are just some of the well known names that have graced its premises.
Isabel Luque, who is the senior advisor and asset manager at the Fuerte Hotel Group, announced on the 19th May, just ahead of the re-opening, that there was to be an exciting addition to the hotel, in the form of a museum showcasing the history of renowned individuals who have crossed its thresholds, including figures from the literary, entertainment, and music worlds.
The hotel now boasts 266 newly renovated bedrooms designed by the acclaimed Jaime Beriestain. Beriestain’s vision combines the casual luxury of Andalusian traditions with a new modern and contemporary flair, resulting in warm, open spaces reminiscent of grand Andalusian palaces and country estates. Earthy hues, terracotta, spicy tones, and natural shades evoke a timeless atmosphere.
The Spanish love their food and the newly opened five-star establishment with place a strong emphasis on Marbella fine dining, notably through the restaurant called the Edge by Paco Pérez. Headed by the esteemed four Michelin-starred chef himself, the restaurant offers an unrivaled gastronomic experience. In addition to the already established Soleo restaurant, which has delighted guests with top-quality Mediterranean cuisine for six years.
The Edge by Paco Pérez introduces a concept of “Travelling Mediterranean Cuisine,” where local produce takes centre stage alongside breathtaking views of the sea and Marbella’s old town.
Fuerte Group Hotels presently operates multiple four-star holiday hotels, two rented apartment complexes, and the recently unveiled five-star Fuerte Marbella. All of these exceptional accommodations are situated in Andalucía and Ibiza.
