Marbella will host a series of concerts this summer called ‘The Coast of Music’ with seven open-air concerts from 18 July to 29 August 2020 all in the Auditorium of the Parque de la Constitución starting at 10pm

The event will feature the África G.Project, Marcos Grimaldi & E-Gipsy, Pilar Esteban ‘LaPili’, Eneko Alberdi and the No Solo Blues Band, La Negra Mayté, Delola and Tin Fernández Quinteto.

The general director of Culture and Education, Carmen Díaz, stressed that this activity seeks to “put in value the talent and creativity of the professional artists of the municipality, collaborating in the recovery of the cultural activity so affected by the situation created by Covid -19 ”.

She added that “we want to show the artistic strength of this city and that the recovery of the pulse of Marbella is done with singers and local groups” and explained that the stage on which the concerts will be held “is a privileged place, outdoors and suitable to guarantee the security and hygiene-sanitary protection measures at this time ”.

The music event in Marbella will start on July 18 with the Africa G. Project, which began its journey in 2016 with the help of the former vocalist of the Mojo Project, Africa Gallego, born in San Pedro Alcántara.

It is the result of several years working in different styles, such as funk, soul, flamenco, electronic and hip-hop. The accompanying musicians come from different styles, hence the musical richness of the themes. The members are made up of Miguel Gonzalo on drums, Juan Diego Navarro on flamenco guitar and Sergio Andrés Cuenca on electric bass.

The series of concerts will continue on 25 July with Marcos Grimaldi & E-Gipsy, with vocalists José ‘El Recortao’ and Ismael Tamayo, Marcos Grimaldi on electric guitar, J.Carlos Gutiérrez on flamenco guitar and Daniel Casañ on percussion and keyboards .

The guitarist started in music at the Municipal Conservatory of Marbella, leaning from the start towards modern harmony and learning with jazz musicians who had settled in the province or by attending seminars and master classes taught by guitarists such as Scott Henderson or Pat Metheny.

It is presented within the Auditorium accompanying the band E-GIPSY -electronic flamenco group formed who were the founders of hugely popular group Chambao, presenting songs from the album Divers-e.
Grimaldi thanked the Marbella City Council and the Department of Culture “for having had this sensitivity with us, since in the difficult situation we are living in, almost all musical concerts have been cancelled”.

On August 1 it will be the turn of Marbella’s Pilar Esteban ‘La Pili’, accompanied by Tomás García on guitar. In his concert, ‘Chamana’ he will perform at the Auditorium of the Parque de la Constitución, where he already performed at the age of 12, a tribute to Chavela Vargas.

The concerts will continue on August 8 with Eneko Alberdi (on guitar and vocals) and the No Solo Blues Band with Joan Masana on double bass, Louis René ‘Couki’ on piano and Pedro Valdivielso on drums. Eneko Alberdi, from Samoa, is a guitarist from the jazz scene, who has always remained linked to different forms of ethnic and traditional music.

After in-depth research work on the electrification process of the blues, he discovered a cultural heritage of songs from the first half of the 20th century that, together with more jazzy vibes, formed an excellent pairing.

La Negra Mayté will perform on August 15, accompanied by Emiliano Barés on guitar, Javier Flores on guitar / synth, Jesús Bachiller “Bachi” on bass, Giustino Graziosi on drums and José Carra on keyboards.

Mayte Martínez is native to San Pedro Alcántara and already had sights on the world of the performing arts from an early age, but it was not until she was 16 that she formed her musical group ‘Corps Diplomático’ and recorded her first album, ‘Credential Letters’, in London.

La Negra Mayté recorded a new album, ‘AKOPLARSE’, which was a work with a lot of Spanish flair and influence, but included also her passion for Soul, Modern Jazz and Funk. “I will bring a bit of my album and African-American themes”. In addition, she also wanted to thank the City Council “for giving us support in these difficult times, saying it is good to remember us.”

Juan Delola will arrive at the Auditorium on 22 August, with flamenco and electric guitar, accompanied by the voice of Juanjo Alcántara, Víctor Norling on bass, Sergio Bullón on flamenco guitar and Miguel Quelart on drums.

Delola is an Andalucian rock guitarist, composer and producer with an extensive rock and flamenco training born in Marbella.
