On Sunday 17 August some of Marbella’s elite crowd gathered under the stars at Puente Romano tennis courts for The World Vision Gala and fund raiser. The attendees were greeted at the decorated entrance and ushered into the reception area where there was a constant train of delicious canapes covering most type of cuisine from Asian to traditional Spanish. After some mingling and chatting the attendees were invited to take their seats at their allocated tables which overlooked a stage area that was initially occupied by the Gypsies (one element of the former Gypsy Kings).

People were already in a flamboyant mood dancing and clapping to some classic Gypsy King tracks like Bamboleo and Djobi Djoba.

Looking around, the Puente Romano tennis courts had never looked so good. In years gone by many top artists like the Jacksons, Nile Rogers, and Tom Jones have performed to packed houses in the tennis courts, so it was good to see so many people having fun in the venue again.

The Puente Romano resort is a five-star luxury resort and hotel which also incorporates the boutique NOBU Hotel. The resort has some of the best Internarial restaurants like Cipriani, NOBU, COYA, and Antonio Banderas’ restaurant El Pimpi. It has always been a firm favourite with the celebrity and elite travel crowd, along with local jetsetters and residents.

The evening continued with speeches from Puente Romano owner Daniel Shamoon and World Gala representative Saramine Mukute explaining more about World Vision Charity and the hard work they do around the world.

Dinner was served during the speeches which had been created by the incredible gastronomic team of the Puente Romano which included salmon tartare and fillet steak, all overseen by the super talented John Thompson. The free-flowing wine certainly helped the bidding with over €800,000 raised through donations and the charity auction, with some one-off prizes and experiences up for grabs.

After dinner guests were treated to the amazing sounds of 90s dance band N-Trance who sang a number of top tunes from the era including their smash hit ‘Set U Free’.
