On the 16th of June 2023 Celebrities in Marbella was invited to the launch of a new art gallery opening its doors in a prime location within Antonio Banderas Square, Puerto Banús. It is fair to say that we have been to a few gallery openings over the years, so it was a treat, and breath of fresh air, to see the art that was being shown (and sold) at Twisted Art Gallery.
This is the sort of art that we would love to hang on our walls at home. Modern, fresh and with a pop-art / urban twist, it was both colourful and creative.
The launch event was attended by around 200 people, and we met the founders of the gallery and some of the artists responsible for creating the work hanging on the walls and display cabinets.
There was even a live art show as ‘Pure Evil’ finished some of the 25 exclusive pieces he had created especially for the gallery. Other artists attending the launch and whose collections were on display included The Connor Brothers, Tim Fishlock and Opake.
The art DJ Amando Gottafunker kept everyone entertained while the waiting staff served wines supplied by the event sponsors Robiza.
Other art on display was a mixture of urban art, street art and pop art with pieces by Mr Brainwash, Sara Pope, Cecile Plaisance, SN, David Kracov, Kunst Met Een R, Alec Monopoly and Gal Yosef. We were also lucky enough to see a couple of original Banksy pieces on display.
Dylan King and Kevin Simpson, the owners of the gallery, who both share a passion for collecting art, gave an interesting introduction to the gallery and how it came about. It was as a result of them literally bumping into each other in Sotogrande, having not seen each other for many years and realising they had a shared passion. They went on to explain that their aim is to create the hottest destination for contemporary art on the Costa del Sol, where everyone is welcome.
If the launch event is anything to go by, they have already set a high standard of art in a welcoming atmosphere, and we look forward to visiting again to check out new pieces on display.
The gallery was officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Director of General Tourism in Marbella Laura de Arce.
All art displayed is available for sale so it is a great way to purchase some rare and unique art for your home or office.
Twisted Art Gallery is located at Plaza Antonio Banderas 18, Puerto Banús. Opening hours to the public are Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00 to 20.00.
