Some more fabulous Marbella news has just been released aimed at the younger generation in the area. Marbella is always striving to provide some of the best facilities on the Costa del Sol and they are now turning their attention to skate-parks.
The new skate park in Marbella has its sights set on becoming the very best in the Andalucia region. In order to help achieve this status Marbella has employed the services of the BMX world champion Rubén Alcántara for consultation on the design of some of the features. He has helped with the design of aspects like handrails and pyramid-style ramps to make it suitable for rollerbladers, scooter users, BMX and of course skateboarders.
The work on the Marbella 5,200 m2 skate park has already begun in a site in Trapiche Norte. Rubén Alcántara paid a visit to the site located in Calle Almensino on 21st March and was there in an advisory capacity.
He was there with Ángeles Muñoz, the Mayor for Marbella as well as the sports Councillor Manuel Cardeña. It was confirmed that there is an €800,000 investment in the project, which should be completed in around eight months time. It is hoped that skateboarders, scooter riders and rollerbladers will be able to try out the new facility by the end of the year.
The skate park is set to be the most complete in the whole of Andalucia offering three different ‘bowls’ graded from beginners to professionals. That means it will cater for riders of all abilities.
It will also help put Marbella on the map for major tournaments in the various disciplines as it will be of a standard to host world championships.
